I think I have finally mastered the skill of reading more than one book at a time (Does that now make me an adult?). I’m currently in the middle of 3 books that are completely different from each other but equally as interesting.
Rachel’s Holiday by Marian Keyes
Marian Keyes is crazy hilarious and her writer’s voice is what I would want to have if I wrote fiction. This book is about a girl who is in denial about her drug addiction. When she is rushed to the ER because of an overdose, her family decide to take her to a rehabilitation center. Because the book is written in first person, we follow Rachel’s thought process through rehabilitation. As the reader, you can clearly see the addiction through her narrations but because denial is such a huge thing, she can’t completely see it. This book shines a light on addiction from the addict’s vantage point. It makes me understand a lot of things about addiction. This book is so funny yet so serious. That’s why Marian Keyes is my favorite author.
