3 years ago I made an agreement with myself. In order to start a personal little library for myself, I promised myself that I would buy 1 book every month. I have kept up with this practice and usually buy more than 1 book. But I am finding that the rate I read these books is not keeping up with the rate at which I’m buying them. I just don’t have enough time to read these days. And the shameful thing is that it’s mainly because of TV. So I decided to share my list of books that are just lounging on my bookshelf or in my kindle app waiting to be read. I intend on reading all of them this second quarter (April – June).
On my bookshelf I have:
Africa 39 (A compilation of 39 short stories and excerpts)
A place called Home – Cecelia Ahern
Generation Y – Oscar Amisi
This Child will be Great – Ellen Johnson Sirleaf (I’m halfway through this one)
Brought up to fail – Sichalwe M. Kasanda
Living History – Hilary Rodham Clinton
The Book of Negroes – Lawrence Hill

The Gift – Cecelia Ahern
I have a smaller list on my kindle App because I usually read books there immediately after buying them coz they’re a bit more expensive. But even there, they tend to accumulate. I have:
Year of Yes – Shonda Rhimes (I’m half way through this one)
Yes Please – Amy Poehler
Is everyone hanging out without me? (and other concerns) – Mindy Kaling
So that’s it. That’s the reading I have to do in the next 3 months. I’ll probably buy some more books in that period but I guess you can never have too many. As you have probably noticed, I read a lot of fiction. But I also like memoirs of interesting women. One Zambian book made the list, I hope I can find some more.
Are you reading anything currently? Do you have a to-read list of your own? Let me know and maybe I can get ideas for my next purchases.
Some of the books you have listed have shaped me as an individual and my view on the world. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks for reading. Now I’m really looking forward to reading the books. They must be packed with goodness.
I like that.i should revive my reading as well.the things that filled that space are not worth it.
You definitely should. Reading is just the best.
Shonda Rhomes blows my mind. I am pretty sure i will love her books too. Is it a must read? I am reading Scarlet thread by Francine Rivers & I have started the Millionaire Next door.
It’s a good book. And it inspired me to do more with my life. I’m sure will like it. The books you’ve mentioned sound interesting, I’ll look them up.
